It was the week of St. Patrick’s Day, and Bella had to make her leprechaun trap for Friday. Her second grade class all decided to make leprechaun traps for their St. Patrick’s Day party. She wanted to make sure that she was the one who caught the leprechaun. She and her mother went to the store, and bought all the supplies for her trap. They bought glue, construction paper, gold coins, and way more.
They found an old shoe box that they could use to start the box. Bella decided she wanted to paint her box, so she picked out two colors. She chose a dark green, and a gold color. She wanted it to remind everyone of St. Patrick’s Day. She painted the majority of it green, and painted some parts gold. Her mother did the trapping part of the box. They used gold coins to lure in the leprechaun. The mom glued them onto the outside of the box, and on the bottom of it. The mother used Popsicle sticks to make a ladder, she cut a hole at the top so that way it would just fall in. The leprechaun wouldn’t be able to climb out because of how deep the box is.
The day before their party came, Bella set her box on the counter, where the rest of them were. They went through the day like normal, but at the end of the day, they all set their traps on their desks. They all went home, hoping when they came back there will be a leprechaun trapped.
The next day they all came to school. Bella was so excited to see if her trap worked. She put her stuff in her locker and then walked into her classroom. She walked over to her desk, with the biggest smile on her face. She looked inside her box, and then pulled out a bunch of candy, stickers, plastic necklaces, and a note. She was a little disappointed that she didn’t catch a leprechaun, but she was excited to get all the stuff inside.
She turned over the note and began reading. The note said, “Happy St. Patrick’s Day! You almost caught me, but I was able to escape! I decided to leave you some treats to help you celebrate today!” She smiled again, and for the rest of the day she was very happy that she at least almost caught the leprechaun, and she was very thankful for the things she got.
