“Doey Grades lines up at shotgun,” the announcer said as little Wes watched from his TV, wearing his Doey jersey. It was the Super Bowl and Doey was trying to win his team’s first ever. Little Wes, watching from his TV, was scared as Doey was taking on the toughest team. A team that had not lost a game in over five years. Little Wes, however, believed that Doey Grades could lead them to the biggest upset win in football history.
It was late in the fourth quarter. Doey was trailing by seven with less than a minute to go. His team needed him and he who was on the field, and little Wes watching from the TV knew this. Doey knew he needed to take matters into his own hands. At their own 30 yard line, with 20 seconds left, Doey took off. He was running faster than ever. He hurdled a defender and trucked his way to the 50. He hit a spin move and then a celebration as he was in. Little Wes was running all around his living room with joy as he saw the potential game tying or winning play.
“It looks like they are gonna set up for going for two here.”
Doey knew what he needed to do. Little Wes was nervous but knew he could count on Doey Grades as he could all season.
“Grades takes the snaps, he fakes the run now roles out of the pocket,” the announcer said. “Defenders swarm him and he goes- no he puts a move on him. Grades switch directions and has nothing but green grass ahead of him. Doey Grades is celebrating hitting the prime time before he’s even in. Oh no Doey just got absolutely obliterated as he was celebrating. He coughed up the football, and the 82’ers are gonna win the Super Bowl!”
Little Wes began to cry. Doey was embarrassed. He celebrated too early. Little Wes could’ve taken the moral of the story to never celebrate too early, but instead he went down a dark path, ultimately leading to him never being the same again.
