One day Jack, Kamdyn, and I decided to hit the court for a game of basketball. We didn’t have anything serious planned, just a fun pick-up game.
We were all pretty confident at first- Jack was talking a big game, Kamydn was in his usual “I got this” mode, and I was just ready to see what would happen. We started off decently. Jack made a couple of insane shots, Kamydn was doing his thing with some flashy moves, and I was dunking it every time. But man, things took a turn real quick.
Out of nowhere, this group of guys showed up, all looking like they’d been playing for years. You know the type—tall, athletic, moving like they’d been training for this exact moment. They asked if we wanted to run a game against them, and we were too proud to back out. So, we said yes, and that’s when things went south.
From the jump, it was obvious they were way better. They were fast, accurate, and just all-around way more skilled than us. We couldn’t keep up. Jack tried to drive in, but they smothered him. Kam was attempting his usual crossover, but they were on him in a second. And me? I was mostly just trying to stay out of the way. The score got out of hand pretty fast. We were getting smoked. It felt like every shot they took went in, while we couldn’t buy a basket. I’m pretty sure at one point Kamdyn just started laughing because we were getting smoked so badly. Jack was still trying to make plays, but even his usual tricks weren’t working.
Later, we all just kind of sat there, catching our breath, laughing at how badly we were getting destroyed. We didn’t even need to say it—we all knew the game was pretty much over. But we kept playing, just for fun, because that is what we liked to do.
In the end, we lost a lot, but we were still joking around and having a good time. It wasn’t our best performance, that’s obvious. But at the end of the day, we weren’t too mad about it.
