Corry’s girls volleyball coach, Kelly Goodsel, has been honored as he was named the PVCA Coach of the Year. Goodsel was one of 27 coaches named nationwide. He was formally recognized at the 2024 AVCA Convention in Louisville, Ky., during the High School/Club Celebration on Friday, December 19.
Coach Goodsel gained this honor by the performance of his team’s season. He led his team to a 19-2 record, winning Region 4 and District 10 titles, plus they finished second in the state in Class AA. Along with the team’s successful season Goodsel also celebrated and surpassed his 250th career win.
This is Coach Goodsel’s first time receiving this honor, “I have never received this honor before. First time in 18 years of coaching.”
When asked how he felt about this honor Goodsel stated, “I’m excited to receive the recognition, not necessarily for myself, but for what it represents,” Goodsel continued. “That our entire coaching staff and Corry Volleyball Program has done well enough that the award comes our way. It isn’t a one person award (most points in a season or most 3-pointers made), but an award that reflects the team and program success.”
