The Steelers are a very successful franchise that has had a ton of very good players play for them, so I’m going to talk about some of my favorites to ever put on the black and gold.
10. Ryan Clark: Ryan Clark was a Steeler from 2006-2014. He was a big reason we won a Super Bowl because of his big-time interceptions and his big hits to force fumbles on drives we really needed them on. He ended off his career in Pittsburgh and was inducted into the Steelers Hall of Honor.
9. George Pickens: While George Pickens is a bit newer to the league, he has been leading the team in yards since he has come to the Steelers. Whether he is making big runs after a catch or mossing people on the deep ball, he’s always making a play, which is the main reason he’s here in my top 10.
8. Minkah Fitzpatrick: Minkah is our main passing defensive threat. He joined us in 2019 and has been on the team ever since. The main reason he’s here is he always has an impact on our defense; even when he’s not getting interceptions and breaking passes up, he’s still leading our secondary and keeping our defense ready for anything.
7. Mason Rudolph: This is a little bit of a random one, but I really like Mason because he has always been ready to go if our starter gets injured, and he has made us some runs. One of my favorite memories of Mason is Rudolph Saves Christmas. That was an event in 2023 when our starter Kenny Pickett got injured and had one more game, and we had to make the playoffs around Christmas time, and he went out there and saved our season and playoff hopes.
6. Chris Boswell: This man has been our kicker for what feels like forever, and in all that time he has been reliable and has never had a bad season. This year he literally won us games, scoring all the points. Chris will always be one of my favorites.
5. Leveon Bell: He was known for his unconventional running style. While not the fastest runner, he was still considered elusive due to his patience in waiting for his blockers to create running lanes before suddenly accelerating for a big gain, despite coaches and analysts advising running backs to “hit a hole with authority.” CBS sportscaster nicknamed Bell the “Great Hesitator” due to his running style
4. T.J. Watt: TJ has been one of the best defensive players in the league since he has been drafted. Everyone expected him to be good, but no one was expecting this. He has led the league in sacks every season except one and has gotten a DPOY in that time, and he’s the main reason we got into the playoffs in 2023.
3. Cam Heyward: Cam has been on this team since I’ve been alive, and he’s been really good every year. The main reason I like Cam isn’t because of his stats or the way he plays; it’s because of the type of man he is. He has won the Walter Payton Man of the Year award three times, but don’t think that just because he’s nice doesn’t mean he’s not aggressive. He’s currently the leader on our team for sacks at 35 years old. He’s one of the two players to do that in all of league history.
2. Antonio Brown: Antonio is one of my favorites because, for one, I grew up watching him; he was the best receiver in the league at one point, and he has always been the best receiver on our team. He would have had an even more successful career if not for his injury and behavioral issues. All in all, he’s one of my favorite players, not just on my team but in all of league history.
1. Big Ben: I can talk about Big Ben all day. I could talk about when he led us to an 11-0 start to our season. Roethlisberger was one of the most prolific passers in NFL history. Upon retirement, he ranked fifth all-time in NFL career passing yards (64,088), eighth all-time in touchdowns (418), and fifth in completions (5,440) among quarterbacks with a minimum of 1,500 career attempts. He also had the fourth-highest career winning percentage (.710) as a starter in the regular season among quarterbacks with a minimum of 100 starts and was one of six quarterbacks in NFL history to have beaten at least 31 of the current 32 NFL teams.
