It is officially the holiday season and Thanksgiving break is already over. Thanksgiving break began with a half day on Wednesday, and then we came back Wednesday.
I always like this short break because it is then followed up in late December with Christmas break. The typical Christmas break starts around 4-5 days before Christmas and lasts until around January 3. This brings us to my opinion about this year’s Christmas break.
This year’s Christmas break begins on the December 24, Christmas Eve. Christmas falls on a Wednesday, which means we have our last day of school before break on Monday. Monday is only a half day until 1 p.m. What I don’t understand is that we have a full week the week before and then the weekend, but we still have to go back for a Monday. Not to mention that the Monday in question is the day before Christmas Eve.
I believe we should not have to go back to school on that Monday for many reasons. One reason I believe this is because it is pushing very close to Christmas. It is the day before Christmas Eve and many families have already started some of their traditions around this time, including my family. Another reason is that I believe that many students will not attend this day anyway.
I have talked to many different students and teachers about this day and they have said that they are not going to attend Monday. Everyone is excited for the holiday season, but if there is going to be school right up until Christmas, it can ruin some of the fun that Christmas break brings.
