Twenty-Twenty four has flown by and has turned the corner into the best time of the year, the holiday season. When the holiday season arrives, the leaves change. There is Halloween, football, basketball, Thanksgiving break, The Macy’s Day Parade, Mariah Carey, Christmas and New years. . All of this happens in a short 3 month span but lets focus in on one very important time, this time being the Thanksgiving feast. With that being said, here are the top ten Thanksgiving foods in my opinion.
10. Cranberry Sauce- This is a food that’s grown on me from my years at the table on Thanksgiving. It is sweet and tart and a nice change of pace from all of the salty foods that come with Thanksgiving.
9. Stuffing- Stuffing is a classic food at the Thanksgiving table. I am not a big fan of stuffing, but it deserves a spot on the list due to the fact that it is an all time Thanksgiving food.
8. Pumpkin Pie- This dessert is always a must after a full stomach on Thanksgiving. However it can sometimes be dry and the flavor is not always great. Nevertheless with some whipped cream on top it is a great dessert.
7. Gravy- This Sauce may not be good by itself, but it compliments almost every food when it’s drizzled on top. There are also many different types of gravies that can be made for a change in taste.
6. Sweet potato casserole- This is my favorite dessert/sweet food on Thanksgiving. It is always warm when you eat it and the marshmallows on top is what sets it apart from a normal dessert. The marshmallows always melt and it makes them taste better. This casserole can also be made with a brown sugar topping.
5. Rolls- Rolls are a really good side piece on the perfect plate on Thanksgiving. They may not be a main food, but with butter they taste amazing.
4. Ham- Ham is not on everybody’s table but with a big gathering everyone might not like turkey. Ham is always a food made on my Thanksgiving and I personally think it compliments most Thanksgiving foods and is now a staple when I think of what foods i’m excited to try at the big lunch.
3. Mashed Potatoes- Mashed potatoes are my favorite side dish on Thanksgiving. With gravy on top it always is on my plate more than once. It also mixes well with ham and turkey.
2. Turkey- This is the main staple of a Thanksgiving dinner. The turkey is the main food symbolized with Thanksgiving. It is never a normal cooked dinner on an average day, but in the holiday season it shines on the last Thursday of each year
1. Mac n Cheese- Mac n cheese takes the number one spot for Thanksgiving food. In most cases it is a simple generic dinner from the box, but nothing beats a home cooked Mac n cheese. Everyone’s Thanksgiving has a different recipe for how they make their home cooked Mac n cheese, but no matter the recipe it is always what I look forward to the most at the table on Thanksgiving. Last but not least always tell whoever is with you on Thanksgiving that you are thankful for them.
