Tuesday, October 29 the Lady Beavers traveled to Ft. Leboeuf and took on the Fairview Tigers in the District 10 AA Semi-Finals.
The first set started off strong for the Beavers, getting a quick 5-0 lead over the Tigers. Fairview put up a good fight throughout the first set, keeping the score fairly close. The Tigers called their first time out when the score was 13-19, Corry winning by six. Fortunately for the Beavers, Fairview was unable to make the comeback they needed. The Beavers won the first set 25-18.
Fairview scored the first point of the second set, but Senior Halle Albers quickly put a stop to that with two service aces. The Beavers Gaines a three point lead, the score being 4-1. Fairview called their first time out when Corry was in the lead by five (8-3). Towards the end of the set, Senior Makenna Moore had back-to-back service aces bringing Corry to 19 points, while Fairview only had 7. Corry continued to climb the ladder and ended the set quickly, the score being 25-13.
The third set was the most intense out of the three, keeping the score close until they tied at 10-10. Corry soon went on a five point run, from two service Aces by Albers and a Kill by Senior Aubrey Chase. Fairview fought back, not letting Corry get too far ahead, the score was 15-13 when Sophomore Grace Allen has a Kill, then Senior Allison Sawyer followed with another kill, and then three kills by Halle Albers brought the score up to 22-16. The Beavers continued when Senior Emmalee Carr had three kills followed by a close out kill by Chase. The final score was 25-17, the Lady Beavers will continue to the District Finals this Thursday (October 31), they will play at McDowell against Cathedral Prep. The Tuesday night win also secured a spot in the PIAA State Playoffs! Congratulations on the win and good luck with the rest of the season.
