Lots of fun occurred at last Friday’s football game. Twenty-seven seniors were celebrated, the football team secured another win and the Region 5 title.
Senior Night festivities started at 6:20 p.m. when all of the seniors walked across the track and got introduced. Twelve football seniors: Tyler Aderhold, Kael Albers, Will Allen, Frankie Barr, Nolan Carey, Jameson Dyne, Kenny Fink, Porter Kafferlin, Nick Lesher, Mason Savitz, Aiden Trask and Zach Turben. Ten senior cheerleaders: Angie Cressley, Erica Fisher, Maddie Gustafson, Vonneece Hayes, Alexis Heiser, Addison Pillar, Maggie Reed, Kirsten Schaaf, Sarah Synder and Brooklyn Taylor. Five senior band members: Easton Barber, Luke Hurd, Ali Torrez, Jacob White, and Avery Webber.
Right after all the festivities the game’s kickoff started at 7 p.m. The Beavers were up against the Harborcreek Huskies fighting for the Region 5 Title. Corry had won the toss, but the Huskies had the first points on the board leading in the first quarter 7-0. Corry turned on the offense with Senior Carey ripping off a 22-yard run up the middle. Next play Senior Lesher racked up a 20-yard run. The Beavers were on the move to tie this game up, and that’s exactly what they did. Towards the middle of the first quarters Carey tossed one to Junior Keaton Frisina who ran it down to the Touchdown zone. Senior Turben’s kick was good making the score to be 7-7.
In the second quarter both teams were working hard, but the Beavers came out on top with another touch down thrown from Carey to Junior Blake Cook. The score was 14-7 Beavers with the lead in the second quarter. In the third they didn’t let up either scoring another touchdown from a bullet throw from Carey to Cook. The lead was widened for the Beavers, 21-7. The ending score of the game was 28-7 with the Beavers scoring yet another touchdown, and securing the Region 5 Title.
What a special night it was for Beaver nation not only it being Senior night, they secured another win, and got the Region 5 Title. Corry’s record on the year was 7-2 and in Region five they were 4-1.
After all the excitement of playing all the Seniors lined up on the end of the field and did the traditional final walk of the field.
Corry will play their last regular season game this Friday away at Oil City.
