May 31, 2024, Eminem released a song for the first time in a year. The song, named “Houdini,” is the start of the roll out of his new album, assumed to be released in October, the month Houdini died. This is also the month of Eminem’s birthday, when he will turn 52, the same age as Harry Houdini when he died.
The single is about him coming back to his old self for the end of his career, saying he’s back like “abracadabra.” The sound of this song is relatable to the sound of Eminem’s older songs with sillier sounds like “Just Lost It,” where he’s obviously trying to get a reaction from people. Em says, “How many little kids still wanna act like me?/I’m a bigger [expletive deleted] than cacti be.” This means he knows that he is angering people and he doesn’t care.
Continuing, Eminem also says, “I hop on tracks like kangaroo/And say a few things that anger you,” showing he knows he is angering people. He also backs this up by saying “But [Expletive deleted] that/if I think that [Expletive deleted], I’ma say that [Expletive deleted]/Cancel me, what? Okay, that’s it.” In saying this he is showing he does not care what happens, he just wants to go out with a bang.
Eminem is back bigger than ever, and his next album might be the best he has ever done if he goes back to his old style.
