Ms. Seggi’s AP U.S. Government and Politics class will be hosting an annual Mock Party Convention. The Convention will take place in the Auditorium today during fourth period, which will represent the Democratic National Party “via Chicago, IL,” and tomorrow during sixth period, which will represent the Republican National Party “via Milwaukee, WI.”
There are posters posted throughout the hallways advertising for both parties, Democratic and Republic. Certain teachers received formal invitations to attend the convention. Students are becoming either a president, vice president, senator, representative, keynote speaker, MC, as well as a campaign manager, and delegates to run an effective and smooth national party convention for their assigned party.
The convention allows students to culminate points of the AP U.S. Government and Politics Class. This is their chance to apply their knowledge of government and politics and showcase their learning to the school. There are two separate classes this year which is why there were two parties. If anyone is available during their classes that day they are more than welcome to stop by and watch the convention. Each one will last approximately the whole period.
The Democratic Party consists of: President– Kamdyn Moon, Vice President– Maddie Goodwill, Senator– Addy Zajac, Representative– Taylor Holby, Delegates– Mahra Goodwill and Kingston Jackson, Campaign Manager– Olivia Gilliand, Master of Ceremonies– Chris Bemis, and Key Note Speaker– Lily Fuller.
The Republican Party consists of: President– Kendall Passanger, Vice President– Marleigh Martin, Delegates– Bailee McCray, Evie Beckman, and Raychel Eastman, Current Republican Senator– Trenton Lobdell, Republican Representative– Charlie Amburghy, Coordinator– Ava Hallberg,
There are hopes to do a mock “electoral college” type of voting structure to decide the winner as well.
