Corry High track succeeds at Districts

On Saturday May 18, the Corry Track team headed down to Slippery Rock to compete at Districts. The events that were performed by the Corry boys and girls teams were: Long jump, triple jump, shot put, discus, javelin, 4×100, 4×400, 4×800, mile, 2 mile, 100m dash, 400m dash, 800m dash, and pole vault.

A total of 14 competitors from the girls team qualified for Districts. Those who attended were: seniors Haleigh Bayle, Cameron Fox and Ariel Knapp; Juniors Morgan Martin, Jordan Fox, Lindsey Hasbrouck, Delaney Nickerson, Miranda Dubrosky and Shay Linden; sophomore Marleigh Martin; freshmen Isabella O’Connor, Grace Allen and Haley Mumau.

A total of 13 from the boys team qualified for Districts. Those who attended were: seniors Tavon Kornikoski, Hayden Tomcho and Carter Linden; juniors Zach Turben, Judah Zinz, Will Allen, Isaiah Bayle, Nick Lesher and Nolan Carey; sophomores Blake Cook, Landon Hasbrouck and Cooper Hodak; freshmen Paxton Zinz.

There were several students who medaled at Districts. For the boys it was the 4×800 relay which got third, and the team consisted of Kornikoski, Turben, P. Zinz, and J. Zinz. Then Carey for javlin, who earned first, and Blake Cook, who earned second in the 110m hurdles. For the girls, their 4×800 relay got first and the team consisted of Bayle, C. Fox, J. Fox, and Mumau. Then, Hasbrouck earned second for discus.

States will be this weekend in Shippensburg. Those who qualified include the District 10 Champion girls 4×800 relay team of Haeleigh Bayle, Camryn Fox, Jordan Fox, and Haley Mumau, along with alternate Ariel Knapp. District 10 Champion in the javelin, Nolan Carey, District 10 runner-up Lindsey Hasbrouck in the discus, District 10 runner-up in 110 hurdles Blake Cook, and triple jumpers Grace Allen and Marleigh Martin.
