The Corry High Prom is coming around very soon. This year it will be held on Friday, May 10, at the Peak’n Peak. Tickets are being sold for $35 per person from April 16-19 in Ms. Bennett’s room before school and at both lunches.
This year prom is being put on by the junior class, and their advisor Stephanie Bennett. The prom events start at 4:15 p.m. with the car line up at Corry Area Primary School, then at around 5 p.m. everyone will take off, and head over to the Peak in an assembly line. It will be led by Resource Officer Bayhurst. They are estimated to arrive around 5:30 p.m. where they will be let out one by one as they pull up to the building. Parents, grandparents, and others are invited and welcome to take photos as the students walk into the building. Dinner will be held at around 7 p.m. after the announcement of the prom king and queen. For the dinner they switched it up this year to match the theme, which is enchanted garden. The food will be a brunch buffet. Then the dance will officially start at 8 p.m., and end at 11 p.m.
Prom committees are those who are bringing the prom scenery to life along with advisor Stephanie Bennet. Some members of the prom committee were asked how they felt about this year’s planning for prom.
Committee member Luke Hurd states, “Prom planning has been great. We’ve had a small group of students participating and we are looking to order our first round of decorations soon.”
Another committee member Lexi Heiser, “Planning for prom has had its downfalls this year with our committee. It is hard to be able to hold meetings that everyone can attend, as the fundraising didn’t bring in too much money this year for us. However, we are moving things along and are able to work around it.”
Advisor Stephanie Bennett’s thoughts on this year’s prom planning is, “Prom prep has been slightly rougher this year than last year. We have less overall student participation for planning and fundraising. This has made those that are working hard on the prom committee to get creative.”
