Tuesday, April 9, the High School boys and girls track teams headed to Titusville to compete in their first region meet against the Rockets. The meet started at 4 p.m., with the sun shining on the Ed Meyer Complex. Many athletes surprised themselves and their coaches with their promising performances.

The boys and girls teams started out for the track events with the 4×800 meter relay. Both were able to win the event, starting the track and field events with the upper hand. In the end, the Lady Beavers pulled out a convincing win, whereas the boys had a closer final score, but they were still able to pull out a win. This allowed both teams to start out the season 1-0, and their efforts are to continue the winning streak and become region champions.

The teams also competed against Union City Thursday, April 11. The boys and girls team took wins in many events, allowing the teams to both win. Even though the weather was not promising Thursday, many athletes were able to gain a letter for track. To qualify for a letter and/or pin, athletes must get 12 team points. Even though they went against Union City, it was not a Region meet, so it did not add to either teams’ records.

Both teams will compete at home against Oil City Tuesday, April 16. It will start at 4 p.m. Varsity athletes, or athletes placing top three per event within the teams will travel to the Hickory Invitational on this upcoming Saturday. The meet will begin at 8 a.m.
