Read Across Corry is an annual event that takes place in the Corry Intermediate and Elementary schools, as well as the Corry Alliance Academy (CAA). The day of the event this year was Friday March 1, from 8:30 to 10:30. This event is held for pre-k through second graders, so that they can celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday (March 2).
The day is a chance for students to invite their parents, guardians or a loved one to come into their class and read with them. The students are provided with many Dr. Seuss-themed activities, they read his classic books, allowing the parents to see the true magic their children get to experience. Teachers seem to think that having both the students and their parents in one building together makes this day so much more special, and has a much larger impact on the kids.
Many students look forward to this day all year, it gives them a reason to behave. Having something like Read Across Corry is so special, especially to young kids. It is an event that not many schools around us have so being able to have the honor is something every kid is very appreciative of.
Students who had the privilege to experience Read Across Corry in the past years know how much fun this day is and how much work the teachers put in to make it what it is. Everyone involved is deeply appreciated by the students of previous years and their families.
