Back in January the UDA (Universal Dance Association) held nationals at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. Many of the dances went viral and people who don’t even dance were talking about it. University of Minnesota Dance Team won the pom championship, Ohio State won the jazz championship, and Louisiana State University Dance Team won the hip hop championship. These may be the people that won, but here are my top 10 favorite UDA college National dances.

10.Texas Tech University jazz

Coming in at number 10 is Texas Tech. This team exceeded my expectations. They are all really good dancers but their costumes weren’t very impressive to me and I thought there were other dances I liked better.

9. Utah Valley Dance Team jazz

Next is Utah Valley. I really did not like their costumes but I feel like their dancing definitely made up for it. The dance is pretty entertaining and fun to watch.

8. Louisiana State University jazz

I put LSU at eighth because I really enjoyed the isolations and choreography. The team did an exceptional job of facials and I had a fun time watching.

7. Pennsylvania State University Park jazz

Penn State is at seventh because I absolutely love the choreography. Though I thought the dance was very good, I think there were other dances that impressed me more.

6. Florida State University jazz

I placed FSU sixth because the choreography and placement of everyone is very pleasing to watch. I love all the articulate movements. The choreographer did an amazing job with the spotlight moments. Overall, it was a pretty good routine.

5. Louisiana State University hip hop

Louisiana, at number five, took the internet by storm after they performed. So many people loved it and were obsessed with it. personally I really enjoyed watching it. I thought it was a great tribute to Michael Jackson and the choreography did a great way of incorporating him into a competition-worthy routine. Each dancer has such great energy and I love it.

4. Pennsylvania State University Park pom dance

Penn State really impressed me a lot more with their pom dance more than their jazz. I love all their energy and commitment. Their music is so upbeat and their dance is so fun and entertaining to watch. I especially loved the toe touch ripple.

3. University of Minnesota jazz

Minnesota came in third because their fouette turn section is astronomically good. Everything about this dance is just so impressive and their emotion is fantastic. This is another dance that went viral, and for good reason. I love their costumes and choreography.

2. Ohio State jazz

I have watched Ohio’s jazz dance countless times. I am in love with everything about it and could go on and on talking about the dance. The beginning lift is so good and I love their emotion throughout their whole routine. The choreography is so impressive and I loved their use of the costumes.

1.University of Michigan Dance Team jazz

Coming in first is my absolute favorite, Michigan. I think this dance is so underrated. I love the song so much and they do a great way of portraying it. The choreography is so beautiful and all the turns are so good. Everything about this dance is just my favorite. The costumes are beautiful and everyone looks great. Overall, I could watch this dance over and over again and would give it a 10/10.
