Beavers open region play with a big game

On January 18, 2024, the Beavers faced off against the Conneaut Eagles in their first region game at the Beaver Dam. With a packed Tuesday night crowd, and intense energy from the team, the Beavers pulled through with an easy 74-56 win over the Eagles.

The first big focus of the night was sophomore guard, #2, Kamdyn Moon. Kam, who had only shot 4 shots in the first 3 quarters, showed he is the real deal. In the fourth quarter he locked in and got in the flow, hitting 6 three pointers in a row. He told me, “I spit my gum out at half time, that’s what helped me.”

The next focus of the night was senior forward, #15, Markus Lambert. Markus kept himself at an even pace, which helped the team stay focused on the main goal of winning big. Out of all the shots he took, Markus only missed 2 which really set the mood for where he believed the effort of the game should be.

The last player I want to highlight from Tuesday is junior guard, #3, Karson Chamberlin. Karson had a big game on Tuesday defensively and offensively. Watching him play, you could hear his actions speaking for him, taking charges and getting steals, which led his team to play with better energy and get steals. When asked how he keeps his energy, he explained, “Mike’s (athletic trainer) Gatorade is my secret.”

These three players really pulled through for the Beavers on Tuesday, and created an amazing first region game for the fans and the team. They play again on Friday January 19, 2023, in Oil City.
