Week recap on the Lady Beavers first week of the 2023/24 season

On Tuesday, December 5, the Lady Beavers Girls Basketball team traveled to Seneca High to face the Lady Bobcats for the first away game of the season. The team is starting this season with a new head coach, Coach Mumua along with Coach West and Coach Kemp. The team consists of 19 girls this year, counting both JV and Varsity.

Tuesday’s game had started at 7:30 p.m., following JV’s win of 33-31 which had started at 6. The game started with  Junior #1 Halle Albers, Senior #14 Kaycee Porter, Freshman #22 Grace Allen, Senior #24 Lauren Thomas, and Junior #30 Lindsey Hasbrouck on the court. The girls ended up trailing behind the Bobcats with the ending score of 51-20, making this their first official loss of the season.

Later in the week, the Lady Beavers visited Girard to play the Lady Hornets; the game started at 7 p.m. following JV’s game. Starting for the Lady Beavers were #1 Halle Albers, #14 Kaycee Porter, #22 Grace Allen, #24 Lauren Thomas and #23 Sadye Dyne. The Lady Beavers took their first win at their second away game of the season, beating the Hornets 42-27.

I asked junior Sadye Dyne how she thinks the team is coming together with the new coaching, Dyne Replied with, “I think it’s going very well and I can already see a lot of improvement.”

The girls have their next game, their first home game of the season, against Fairview Thursday, December 14.
