Pondering Parker

Pondering Parker

On December 4, 2007, the world became a better place. Parker James Trask was born. Trask grew up in the slums of Elgin, PA, in a small house with his parents and his younger sister, Aspen. Now a sophomore at Corry High School, Trask is navigating his way through life. Because I have known him for so long, I can say he possesses the very useful skill of self examination. Trask’s unique perspective and sense of humor makes talking to him a very interesting experience.

As far as hobbies go, Trask enjoys pursuing his prey in the woods like a wolf, he says, “I feel like I’m the alpha of my life, and betas reading this better watch your backs because my claws are out and I’m growling.”

Trask also loves talking to his friends and girlfriend, playing basketball, reading a good book, and coming up with designs for clothing. Trask believes clothes are more than just what you wear so you’re not naked. Clothing is an outward expression of inward feeling; clothing is fun. Trask’s favorite colors are green, blue, and brown. His favorite sport is football because, “violence.” His favorite movie and favorite song are somewhere in his head, but it’s too difficult to hone in and pick them out. So instead he gave me a list of some of his favorite artists: Tyler the Creator, MF Doom, Strawberry Guy, Lil darkie, Jack Stauber, and Travis Scott are some of his top picks. He also mentioned Jesus Christ in this list.

Trask loves the outdoors, as well. He loves the outdoors so much that he aspires to vacate to a foreign country and live off the grid. Trask thinks it would be a good experience to fight to survive every day in the wilderness. If she is willing, he would love to share this experience with his beloved girlfriend. Another thing he would like to do with her is sing together while cooking or baking something. A cookie opera, perhaps. When asked his favorite emotion, he responded with “feeling close to someone and loving someone with everything in me.” I thought that was pretty dignified.

“Life is a window left open, experience the fresh air before it closes.” This is a beautiful quote from Trask. It taps into his understanding of mortality and general fruitless compilation of the human experience. I can affirm that whatever Trask does in his life, he will bring his own unique perspective with him.

He would like to close our interview with these final remarks “Put yourself first, love yourself and you’ll learn to love others, keep it banging…”
