The Corry Ladies Varsity Soccer team has had a record of 28 goals scored in a single season. The record has been held by Kaylyn Whiteley-Nichols for the last 17 years. Kaylyn is now the assistant coach of the girls soccer team. That was until September 30, 2023, when junior Alexandra (Lexi) Scholar beat the record during a home game against Greenville High School.
Scholar has been a part of the girls varsity soccer team since her freshman year. Working towards this accomplishment for three consecutive seasons. Scholar now has the record set at 35 after playing 16 games this season but first beat the record after just 11 games, averaging two goals per game.
When asked how it feels to beat the record for the first time in 17 years, Lexi replied with “I feel extremely proud of myself, I’ve had goals to break the record since my freshman year, it wasn’t easy and a lot of people doubted me.” Then followed with “ Drake once said ‘not saying I’m the best at what I do, I’m just saying it’s me versus whoever wants to lose’.'”
