What to know about this year’s haunted homecoming

That time of year with Friday night lights, dancing, and school spirit is in season. Homecoming is right around the corner with traditions like the football game, spirit week, homecoming court, and the dance.

The 2023 homecoming theme is Haunted Mansion. Each high school class has been divided by their own spooky characters and colors: freshman are werewolves (Brown), sophomores are The Boogieman (Purple), juniors are Medusa (Green), and Seniors are vampires (Black).

Spirit week will begin on the September 25. Monday is Surfer vs. Biker, Tuesday is Human Highlighter, Wednesday is Barbenheimer (Barbie/Oppenheimer), Thursday is orange and black, and Friday is color wars.

This year’s homecoming court has been announced. The girls are Haeleigh Bayle, Baylee Smith, this reporter, Alli Goodwill, Olivia Jackson, and Kieran Graves. The boys are Markus Lambert, Levi Ehrhart, Cooper Slocum, Carter Slocum, Rylan Smith, and Hunter Jordan. They will announce the king and queen during the ceremony at the homecoming football game Friday, September 29.

Willow Bowen is a 12th grade student and this will be her third year apart of the Beaver Tales staff. Other extracurricular activities outside of the school newspaper would be the yearbook, choir, and student council club. Willow's interests are dancing on her competitive dance team, drawing, watching movies, and painting.
