Jenna Martin, Editor

Every year Erie News Now chooses an “Athlete of the Year”.  All high school athletes that were featured on Erie News Now as the “Athlete of the Week” during the 2022-2023 school year are eligible to be voted as “Athlete of the Year”.

You can vote for the athlete of your choice once a week until June 24th, the winner will then receive an $1,000 scholarship for college from Tendto Credit Union.

There are 41 candidates for the scholarship, many students from each school:

One athlete from our very own Corry High – Makenna Moore, Sophomore who was selected for her hard work on the Corry Girls Varsity Volleyball team. Cathedral Prep ( 4 students), Seneca (3 students),  Harbor Creek (2 students), Fairview (5 students), Edinboro (2 students), Girard( 1 students), Mercyhurst (8 students), Northwestern (3 students), Penn State (1 student), McDowell (3 students),  Meadville (1 student), General McLane ( 2 students), North East (1 student), Gannon (3 students), Erie High (1 student) ,

I asked Moore what her reaction was when she found out she was up for such an honor, she replied: “I was very happy to be up for this honor, and shocked at the same time. I am also extremely grateful.”
