On May 1, 1999, the very first episode of Spongebob Squarepants aired on Nickelodeon as a sneak peek following the 1999 Kids Choice Awards, and it wouldn’t officially air until a month later.

The episode “Help Wanted” is the debut episode where SpongeBob SquarePants attempts to get his dream job at the Krusty Krab. Encouraged by his friend Patrick, SpongeBob tackles an impossible task to find a “hydrodynamic spatula” while saving the restaurant from a swarm of hungry anchovies, proving his worth to Mr. Krabs and Squidward.

Did you watch Spongebob as a kid? Do you still watch Spongebob? Personally, I wasn’t allowed because my dad banned SpongeBob in our house and I don’t know why, but I did watch it at my grandma’s house a lot.
