Choosing a favorite TV show can be difficult, especially when there are so many good ones to watch. From intense dramas to hilarious comedies, there is always something for everyone. I am the type of person to watch the same show 100 different times because I just love them. Here is a list of my top 10 favorite TV shows.
10. “13 Reasons Why”: This drama show follows Clay Jensen in his quest to uncover the story behind his classmate and crush, Hannah Baker, and her decision to end her life. There are very sensitive topics like suicide, addiction, sexual assault, mental health, and bullying. I would recommend this show to mature teens and young adults with parental consent.
9. “Ginny & Georgia”: This comedy-drama show follows free-spirited Georgia and her two kids, Ginny and Austin, as they move north to find a fresh start but find that the road to new beginnings can be bumpy. In this show, it heavily features topics like depression, self-harm, and anxiety. It also shows themes of identity and growth, social issues, and survival and secrets. I really enjoy this show because it shows real life struggles that teens face today. I would recommend this show to teens and young adults.
8. “Shameless”: This American comedy-drama show is set in South Side, Chicago and follows Frank Gallagher, a neglectful father of six who spends his free time in bars drinking since his wife left the family due to bipolar disorder. Since these six kids technically have no parents present in their lives, their older sister Fiona steps up to take care of the kids. I really enjoy the intense humor in this show, it makes me laugh the whole time. I would recommend this show to mature teens and adults.
7. “Never Have I Ever”: This comedy-drama show is about an Indian-American high school girl, Devi Vishwakumar, and her journey being the only Indian girl in her school. It follows her struggles finding a steady relationship, making friends, and fitting it. I really liked this show because I feel like it can be relatable sometimes. I recommend this show to pre-teens with parental consent, and teens.
6. “Yellowjackets”: This thriller show follows a wildly talented girls high school soccer team as they become very unlucky survivors of an intense plane crash in the Canadian wilderness. It also goes back and forth from the high school girls surviving in the wilderness to present day as adults. I liked watching how their adult lives are because of the wilderness. I would recommend this story to mature teens and adults.
5. “Tell Me Lies”: This drama show is set in the late 2000s at Baird college in upstate New York. It follows a college freshman Lucy Albright and college junior Stephan DeMarco in their turbulent romance over the course of eight years. This show goes back and forth from them in college and them at a wedding after they all graduate. I really liked watching all of the drama through this show. I would recommend this show to mature teens and adults.
4. “The Traitors”: This reality show is hosted by Alan Cumming as he gathers a random group of celebrities who participate in a game similar to Mafia or Werewolf in Scotland. Each person will either get assigned as a Traitor who will eliminate the other contestants without getting caught or a Faithful who has to try and figure out who the Traitors are. I thought this show was so funny and I liked the drama throughout. I would recommend this show to anyone who is up for a laugh.
3. “The Summer I Turned Pretty”: This drama show follows Isabel “Belly” Conklin as she navigates through a love triangle between two brothers, Conrad and Jeremiah Fisher during their annual summers at Cousins Beach. I liked watching how Belly goes throughout these relationships. I would recommend this show to pre-teens with parental consent and teenagers/young adults.
2. “Stranger Things”: This show is a science-fiction horror drama set in the 1980s in the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana. It follows a group of friends: Mike, Eleven, Will, Dustin, and Lucas, as they uncover government conspiracies and battle supernatural threats from an alternate dimension called the Upside Down. I love not knowing what will ever come up in this show. It is also pretty funny. I would recommend this show for families that are looking to binge.
1. “Dance Moms”: This reality show was hosted by Abby Lee Miller, the owner of the famous Abby Lee Dance Company, that premiered in 2011 in Pittsburgh, PA. It followed the training and careers of children in dance and showed the business under the tutelage of Abby Miller. It also showed the relationship between Abby, the dancers, and their mothers. This is my favorite show because the drama makes me laugh so hard. I have watched all eight seasons of this show multiple times. I would recommend this show to dancers, pre-teens, and teenagers.
