The NBA season should be shortened because the current 82 game schedule puts too much stress and pressure on players and lowers the quality of the game.
Basketball is a physically demanding sport and constant travel and back-to-back games lead to more fatigue and injuries. This is why star players often rest during regular season games for no great reason, disappointing fans who want to see the league’s best athletes play.
A shorter season would also improve the intensity and excitement of games. When teams play so many games, individual matchups lose importance, and players do not always give full effort because games don’t have as much meaning. Fewer games would make every win and loss matter more, encouraging teams to compete harder and produce better basketball on a nightly basis.
Finally, shortening the season would make the regular season more meaningful for fans. With fewer games, each one would feel important, similar to the NFL where literally every game matters. While some worry about lost revenue, higher quality and more competitive games would likely keep fans more engaged, making the NBA better overall for players and fans.
