Most teenagers nowadays are on social media, specifically TikTok, but should people their age be famous? A lot of teenage influencers ages range from 13-19. I believe this is pretty weird because most people my age and older are fans of these teenagers. There are multiple pros and cons of this.

The pros of being a teenage influencer are making money, making life-long friends, and creative expression. Earning so much money from this can be very good for a young teenager. Most teenage influencers are in a “Creative Fund,” this is how much money-per-views they earn on each video. This fund gives $0.02-$0.o4 per 100,000 views. On average these famous teenagers are receiving about 500k- 100 million views per video. This gives one person about $15,000-$30,000 per video. This is insane for someone at such a young age. Most of these influencers make around 2-10 videos per day, which would give them about $40,000-$200,000 per day. This could become a great investment, especially starting during teenage years.

Another pro about this is that all of these famous people could become friends with similar interests. I also think being TikTok famous could be good because anyone can show their talents, interests, and hobbies. Anyone can become famous if their video reaches the right audience.

Now for the cons: privacy, online predators, cancel culture, and hate. A lot of these teenagers become stressed and sometimes share too much about their personal lives to the world. This leads to online predators. There are a lot of creepy people on social media who are preying on young teens in the comment section of their videos. This is very dangerous for the creator.

Also, being an influencer, they need to be very careful about what they say, and how they say it. So many people on TikTok can become “cancelled,” which could ruin their platforms and digital footprint. While most of these teenagers’ jobs are social media, if they get “cancelled,” this could lead to losing followers and start earning less money. This also connects with hate.

These 14-18 year olds should not have to struggle with so much hate at such a young age. Mental health is a big issue in our world right now, and these young girls could get so much hate that leads to bad mental health. I also think it is weird that adults are fans of teenagers. Grown people will go to the meet-and-greets and be obsessed with them. It is incredibly weird.

In my opinion, minors should not be TikTok famous. Though there is a lot of pros to this, there are a lot more cons. I think it is very dangerous and scary.
