Everyone has a different opinion on their favorite movies, however, if you ask for their top three, most of them would mention a Disney movie. Whether it is old or new, animated or live action, you will find that someone has an opinion about each and every one. Luckily, I am a big fan of them. Here are my top 10 Disney films.
10. The Lady and The Tramp- It’s not underrated nor overrated. The storyline can be tricky to follow, but when the conflict hits, it’s almost like an aha moment. What is the point of this and what is the movie trying to say?
9. The Little Mermaid- Good story plot but a horrible ending for Ursula. She deserved way more of a fight with how much power she held.
8. Chicken Little- Possibly one of the most annoying movies in the Disney franchise. The storyline loved to jump from baseball to the sky falling and then aliens abducting the chicken.
7. The Lion King- With an amazing story, the voiceovers were spot on, however, I hate crying. Why must this movie be so sad? The dad could’ve died a different way, too.
6. Dumbo- This is the type of movie that I would fall asleep to after a scary movie. While it’s comforting, it is very boring.
5. Cars- Not bad at all. I love the personification they represent with the cars, and the friendship builds were to die for.
4. Mulan- I do love an independent main female character. The way she starts out not knowing what to do then taking her father’s spot in war makes my heart melt. I love that she wasn’t scared to show off in front of the boys with her talent of fighting.
3. Zootopia- Once again with the female lead. I love that she has a way better outcome with her role and the way everything leads to these moments for her. I also adore the way she handles her past bullies, never striving to make them feel the same and forgiving them in a heartbeat.
2. Aladdin- This movie wan’t scared to emphasize the dark in plain sight. A boy who starts with nothing ends up having everything, and in the end, it’s not truly what he wants. Jafar was only looking for the power in the midst of the storm, oblivious to his real world. Aladdin chose good over bad and love over wealth.
1. Hercules- Oh my goodness gracious. Everything about this movie is amazing. From a boy who was so strong and not wanted to a man who got everything, this plot is spot on. Hades’s story line is also at its peek: from where he wanted to rule everything along with his henchmen, to killing Hercules due to the man being so powerful. I do think Hades ending was really well done, too.
