Imagine having after school activities and remembering you have homework. I personally believe that homework gets in the way, especially if you have sports or any other hobbies to do after school. I believe that because I have been in situations where I’ve forgotten about my homework until I got back home that night after activities. Even though homework is important, not many people want to go home just to do more school work after they already had school that day. Another disadvantage to homework is that it makes you stressed and you also don’t get to spend time with family as much as you would like to.
Let’s talk about Amanda: she is 15 years old who doesn’t like school especially when her teachers load her up with homework. When she comes home every day, she slams her book bag on the floor and goes straight to her bedroom. She participates in dance and when she gets home she has to hurry up and get dressed, then go to dance practice. She also enjoys hanging out with her friends and family, but since her teachers gives her a bunch of homework she doesn’t have any time. Amanda has no time to do any of her hobbies that she loves anymore.
I personally believe homework strains students a ton, especially being involved in many sports. One way that homework affected me was my grades going down due to an excessive amount of homework. Another one is not being able to enjoy my after school activities due to always having to worry about homework, mostly if I’m going to be able to finish it before the next day. With that being said, homework limits your daily activities outside of school, and homework also makes you strapped down because you can’t do anything until your homework is finished. If you’re like me who is involved in many after school activities then you don’t want to get put on probation because you can’t practice or play the sports that you are involved in until your grade is above a 68 percent. Therefore, homework is difficult to fit into your schedule and many students don’t do their homework due to their after-school activities.
I went to speak to a couple of teachers to get their opinions on homework. I first went to Mr. Luther and he said, “practice makes perfect.”
I also went to Mrs. Depaul and she said, “I honestly don’t give a ton of homework.” She also said, “Kids that have homework normally don’t do [their work] in class.”
I also talked to Mrs. Marsh and she only makes the assignment homework if you don’t use your time wisely.
In conclusion, different people have mixed feelings about homework for different reasons. Teachers believe that if you don’t use your time wisely then your assignment becomes homework. I personally agree with this because if the teacher gives you time to do your work then you shouldn’t have to worry about homework after school.
