Animated shows have been a popular thing on television since the early 1900s. The styles of animation have changed throughout different eras, making each generation special. We all have our favorite cartoons; I ranked my top 10 that stand out the most to me.
10. The Flintstones
This show was popular in the 1960s. It has a classic sitcom vibe that is combined with unique and colorful scenes, making it a classic for the current generation as well. “The Flintstones” is a timeless classic.
9. Rugrats
This show is very fun for younger audiences and older audiences alike. It follows charming and fun characters that have intriguing stories to tell.
8. Looney Tunes
The Looney Tunes have been loved for many years. They have a series of fun and witty characters that make interesting plots and funny lines of dialogue. A favored series in the Looney Tunes of mine has to be “The Coyote and the Roadrunner”.
7. The Simpsons
One of the longest-running cartoons ever has achieved such success for a reason. Homer and his everyday adventures make the show a relatable classic for many. It has humor and emotion in all the right places.
6. Sponge Bob Squarepants
This cartoon is iconic for the modern generations. The show includes humor that is fun enough for younger kids but also mature and exciting enough for older kids and young adults too.
5. Tom and Jerry
Tom and Jerry mastered slapstick comedy early on and definitely became an inspiration for other projects too. This is one of Hannah-Barbera’s finest cartoons in my opinion.
4. X-Men: The Animated Series
This is one of the earliest shows to follow a strict chronological ordered format, with each episode leading into the next. This is a perfect show in the action adventure genre. The animation and storylines hold up to this day.
3. Scooby Doo
There have been countless Scooby Doo shows and movies since the 1960s. Some of them are better than others, however, the characters and what they represent made them a household name.
2. Courage the Cowardly Dog
This cartoon combines horror and comedy in a unique way. It was intense enough to give kids a scare but also funny and entertaining enough to keep them coming back.
1. Angry Beavers
This show is great for many reasons. It deals with the hardships and fun of having a sibling, and also doesn’t take itself too seriously. Whenever I’m asked what my favorite cartoon is, I have to say “Angry Beavers.” It is my absolute favorite cartoon. I love the colorful art and exciting characters. It is definitely a highlight of the late ’90s and early 2000s.
