The Opium label has gotten a lot of attention recently with the star of the show Playboi Carti releasing his long awaited “I AM MUSIC” in March. Quickly after, up and coming rapper Ken Carson released his new album “More Chaos” in April after his hit album “A Great Chaos,” with tracks like “Fighting My Demons” and “ss” being big hits overseas.
Known for his gritty, chaotic sound, “More Chaos” is exactly what the name implies: more chaotic tracks similar to his last album. His songs blend together a lot with his lyrics being very simple and his beat selection being very similar.
The intro track, “Lord of Chaos” is the best song on the album because it has a unique beat, very raw and exciting with a siren like sound. Overall, I think the songs are way too similar in the 22-song-length album. There really aren’t many distinct differences in subject matter or instrumentation. The album is too bland and it is practically unreviewable.
Overall, it is definitely a step down from his last release “A Great Chaos,” as a lot of those songs had more nuance in instrument choices and were more unique from track to track. The only memorable song on “More Chaos” is the intro, and from there it all completely blends together. I would rate the album a 1/5.
