I have always enjoyed reading. I started to read a lot more in the last couple of years. I like reading romance and thriller books. I also enjoy getting to go out and buy books, it brings me a lot of joy. I have decided to share my top 10 favorite books that I have read so far. This list isn’t in any particular order!
- The Song of Achilles – This book is written by Madeline Miller, and is a Greek mythology novel. This is the most recent book I read, and I really have enjoyed it. I’m not quite finished with it yet, but I’m almost done. This book is about two princes who end up falling in love. I have heard the ending is sad, and although I’m not there yet, I can tell the ending might be a little sad. So far though, I would say this is one of my favorite books that I have read.
- A Thousand Boy Kisses – This book is by Tillie Cole and is a romance novel. This was such a good book. It was really sad, as well. The book is about these childhood sweethearts, and one of them ends up getting terminally ill. She made a goal to get a thousand kisses from her childhood sweetheart before her time comes. This book is also one of my favorite books. Whenever I’m in a reading slump, I always tend to pick up this book, to help me get back on track with reading.
- The Summer I Turned Pretty – This book is technically a series by Jenny Han. It is a romance trilogy. These books have a show that’s based on the books. I ended up reading the books because of the show, and I absolutely love both. Honestly, I prefer the show over the books, but I definitely recommend reading the books!
- Of Mice and Men – This book is by John Steinbeck, and is a 1937 novella. I read this book in my English class last year, and absolutely loved it. It’s about two migrant ranch workers that are going around California, looking for a job during the Great Depression. This book was so good, and the ending was very sad. I watched the movie, and absolutely loved it. The ending, of both the movie and the book, makes me cry every time.
- Animal Farm – This book is by George Orwell, and is an allegorical novella. This story is about anthropomorphic farm animals rebelling against human farmers. They want to create a world where the animals are free, happy, and equal. I really enjoyed reading this book. We read this in my English class, last year, as well. We watched the movie as well, and I really enjoyed it. I like how it’s based on the Russian Revolution as well.
- If He Had Been With Me – This book is written by Laura Nowlin, and is a romance novel. This book is about a little boy and little girl who were childhood best friends, but grew apart as they got older. This book was also sad, there were moments where I was smiling, and was happy, but there were also moments where I couldn’t help but cry. I did enjoy this book, but there were some parts, to me, that I thought were quite boring. I still really recommend this book, but there were a couple parts that were hard for me to get through.
- Better Than The Movies – This book is written by Lynn Painter, and is a romance novel. This is about a hopeless romantic teen who attempts to have a happily ever after moment with her crush. She continues finding herself drawn to the boy next door. I thought this book was so cute, and is honestly one of my top favorites.
- Twisted Love – This book is written by Ana Huang, and is a romance novel. This book is about a college girl and her brothers’ best friend. The brothers’ best friend is a cold-hearted millionaire. He moves in next door, and they start growing an attraction for each other, but there’s a secret that’s being hidden. This book was good, but definitely not in my top favorites. I just didn’t enjoy it as much as the rest of the books I’ve read.
- The Alchemist – This book is written by Paulo Coelho, and is a novel. I read this book in my English class this year, and I enjoyed it. I read it in a day because I couldn’t put it down. I liked how it had a little romance, but it wasn’t only that. It focused on the boy, and his dream, and I liked that about the book.
- Icebreaker – This book is written by Hannah Grace, and is a romance hockey novel. This book was pretty good, but it wasn’t my all time favorite. I do get the hype that it got, but I feel like there are so many better hockey books out there. I still recommend reading this book if you like romance and hockey.
