Whenever I’m feeling a certain way that I can’t put into words, I often reach for my phone to start playing music.
For example, if I’m feeling sad, I’ll play sad music. Over time, however, I’ve recognized that it’s important to pay attention to what music I’m listening to. I found that listening to sad music just puts me in a worse mood and does more damage than benefits.
I used to think that it was comforting, but in the grand scheme of things it really isn’t. Something I struggle with is allowing myself to find fake comfort in things like sad music, movies, even TikToks.
In my opinion, these things don’t make someone feel better. In fact, it’s just the opposite. I think that it’s important to pay attention to what you’re feeding your mind because it has a huge impact on you. If all you give your mind is sad things, it’s not going to be healthy. However, if you feed it more than that, like happy, uplifting songs, your mindset will change.
