On Monday, March 24 the Beavers Baseball team traveled to Titusville to face the Rockets for their second game of the season. The game started with a lead-off single by Karson Chamberlin. Beavers score the first run as Kamdyn Moon goes to steal second base, Titusville’s catcher throws down to successfully get Moon out but allows Chamberlin to steal home.
The Beavers defense starts with Lewis Hellyer on the mound, Wesley Kurelowech catching, Zack Coulter playing third base, Chamberlin playing short, Moon on second, Jacob Gantz on first, Wyatt Swan in left field, Tucker Jackson in center and Aiden Trask in right. An error by Corry allows the Rockets lead-off batter to advance to second from an infield grounder. Titusville scores their first run as their second batter hits a double into center field. A grounder hit to Chamberlin got the first out of the inning, but still allowed the runner to advance to third. A past pitch allowed Titusville to score their second run. An infield grounder to Gantz on first brought the Beavers up to two outs. Trask ends the inning with a catch in right field, the score sitting at 2-1.
The second inning starts with Aiden Trask up to bat, hitting an infield grounder to short-stop . Short makes the throw to first giving Titusville their first out. Jackson strikes out, bringing Zack Coulter to the plate with two outs. Coulter hits between third and short, the Rockets third baseman makes the throw to first and ends the top of the second inning. Hellyer strikes out the Rocket’s first batter, giving the Beavers one out. The second batter walked, and the third hit out to center field. Jackson was unable to catch it, which gave the Rockets runners on both first and second base. Another strike-out by Hellyer gives the Beavers two outs. A powerful hit drops deep in right field, allowing one run to score. A walk loads the bases, bringing Titusville’s Monn to the plate. Monn hits out to center field, Tucker makes the play to end the inning for the Beavers.
The third inning starts with Wesley Kurelowech up to bat, Kurelowech gets walked and his courtesy runner Jackson Lathrop steps in. Lewis (Roo) Hellyer approaches the plate, Hellyer strikes out on a full count. The Beavers circle back to the top of the line-up as Chamberlin takes his turn at the plate. Lathrop steals second when Titusville’s catcher struggles to stop the pitch. Karson hits a hard ball to short-stop, short is able to beat Chamberlin the first. There are two outs when Moon steps up to the plate. Moon strikes out swinging, which ends the top of the third inning for the Beavers. In the bottom of the third inning Wyatt Swan comes to the mound as Freshman Jeremiah Johnson enters the game to play left field.
Kamdyn Moon snags a fly ball in the gap between first and right field, getting the first out for the Beavers. A single hit deep into right field brings Blake Schmidt to the plate with a Rocket runner on first. A wild pitch allows Titusville to advance to second. Swan strikes Schmidt out giving the Beavers two outs. Swan strikes out another Rocket, ending the third inning with a score of 3-1, Titusville in the lead.
The top of the fourth inning starts with Wyatt Swan at the plate, Swan hits a grounder through the gap getting a lead off single as the ball enters right field. Jake Gantz walks on an inside pitch, bringing Aiden Trask up to bat. The Rockets changed their pitcher to Jaxon Covell. Trask strikes out swinging, giving Titusville their first out. Tucker Jackson walks, loading the bases as Zack Coulter enters the batters box. Coulter hits the first pitch back to the pitcher, getting Swan home as Zack takes the out. The score becomes 2-3 as Kurelowech takes a hit to the arm, loading the bases again. Jeremiah Johnson hits to third, not being able to beat the throw which ends the top of the fourth inning, the Beavers trailing by one. The Beavers hold the Rockets throughout the bottom of the third inning until Jaxon Covell has an RBI single, making the score 2-4 as Knapp scores. Tucker Jackson has a catch into deep center that ends the fourth inning.
Karson Chamberlin starts off the fifth inning, getting walked after a long battle at the plate. Moon hits a double in the hole, allowing Karson to advance to third. Swan with an infield RBI, getting thrown out at first but bringing Chamberlin home. Gantz hits one to short-stop, unable to beat the throw but advancing Moon to third. Aiden Trask strikes out swinging to end the top of the fifth inning, the score standing at 4-3. Titusville’s Brett Schmidt leads off for the Rockets, Schmidt gets a lead off single from a hit into right field. Swan gets an out at first from a bunt, Schmidt advances to second. A wild pitch allows Brett to advance to third base, as Blake Schmidt is at the plate. Blake hits a line drive out to right field, bringing Brett in to score. Brody Sellen hits to short, a bad throw allows Blake to score and Sellen to steal second. Swan strikes out Harrison, getting 2 outs for the Beavers. A past pitch allows Sellen to steal third. Swan walks Ross, bringing the Rockets to the top of their line-up. McDonald hits to Coulter on third, Zack successfully makes the throw, ending the fifth inning.
Tucker Jackson leads off the sixth inning with a hit in right for a lead off single. Jackson steals second with Coulter at the plate. Titusville’s Hunter Obert walks Zack, putting runners at first and second. Wesley hits deep into right field, the Rockets right fielder catches it, but Tucker advances to third. Johnson strikes out on an outside pitch, bringing Karson to the plate. A bock is called which allows Tucker to come home, making the score 6-4. Chamberlin gets walked, as Coulter is in scoring position on third. Kamdyn Moon steps into the batters box, Chamberlin steals second. A wild pitch allows Zack to score closing the gap again (5-6). Moon hits a fly ball deep into center, which is caught to end the top of the inning. Covell hits deep right over the head of Trask to get a triple for the Rockets. Kameron Mong strikes out looking, bringing Brett Schmidt to the plate. Brett hits one to Chamberlin getting Schmidt out at first, but Covell is able to score. Obert gets walked, bringing Blake Schmidt to the plate. Obert’s pitch runner tries to steal second but Wesley throws him out, ending the sixth inning for the Beavers.
Wyatt Swan starts off the last inning for the Beavers, hitting to third. Swan is unable to beat the throw, bringing Jake Gantz to the plate. Jake strikes out swinging. Aiden Trask gets walked, which brings Jackson up to the plate. Jackson hits the first pitch deep to right fields fence, bringing Trask in to score as Tucker lands on second. Coulter is up to bat, hitting a high fly ball to right center. An impressive catch by Titusville ends the game with the end score of 6-7.
