All throughout my years of writing, and media production in general, never has the threat of AI use been as prevalent as it has been over the past year or so. From Coca-Cola commercials to local Corry fundraising posters, AI use is everywhere, and it’s awful. Not in the fact that it’s used at all, it’s the way it is used. For example, there is a Corry Basketball Poster that had an AI-generated Beaver on the side of it, and nobody seemed to notice, but the fact that the poster was meant for a charity event, nobody could have used an in-house artist or freelance something really quickly? I get it’s free, but it’s not the right place. Below is the image to judge for yourself.
This poster was used on Morning Announcements and printed out as flyers around the school and Corry. And this isn’t just the only example. There is another example from a shirt hung up in the halls of the Corry Area High School that is being sold for profit, and it wasn’t even created by a human. The shirt has the caption, “I’M A BEAVER BELIEVER” and in the middle, very obviously an AI generated Beaver. How you can tell is, look at the hands, they don’t look like hands, and more of just a wet glob of playdough. Look at the pants, why does it look like he’s melting? Look at the difference between the shirt of the Beaver and the pasted on C, the teeth aren’t right, and the only thing that I believe is human made about this beaver is the tail, probably made because the AI forgot it. (It looks like a big cartoon steak.)
And there are so many more examples outside of just local products.
During Christmastime Coca-Cola, a multi-billion dollar company, used AI to generate the creepiest commercial ever. Along with Honda using AI-generated backgrounds for their new SUV, the list goes on and on. Fully AI-generated movies are coming soon, but they are awful, and that’s not objective, it WILL give you nightmares. I draw the line at needing ideas and storyboarding, but when there was no human work put into the main piece, you shouldn’t be profiting.
Look out for any AI-generated content around the Corry area, or somewhere interesting. and if you find examples you are welcome to share the experience with some photos, email me at Sbryan2026@corrystudents.net
