Cadence Miller is a 14-year-old eighth grader at Corry Middle-High. She was born March 8, 2011, and has always lived in Corry. One of Cadence’s favorite childhood memories was on one of her birthdays, when her family and friends surprised her with fun matching shirts and a fun activity. “I just remembered feeling so loved.”
Cadence also has six siblings, but is blood-related to one. In fact, her favorite class is gym because she gets to see her best friend and sister, Riley. Though her favorite class is gym, her favorite teacher of all time is Mr. Coates. Even though she doesn’t have him currently, he is her favorite because “he never fails to bring a smile to my face,” and “he’s such a joyful soul.”
She participates in three sports including: dance, cheerleading, and volleyball. When Cadence is not busy with school and sports, she likes to do crafty things and listen to music. Her top three songs are: “Feeling Whitney” by Post Malone, “You’re Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile” by Sia, and “Godspeed” by Frank Ocean. She loves the catchy rhythm that each of the songs have. Her favorite singer is Billie Eilish. Cadence’s idea of a perfect date would be watching the sunset laying down and listening to a perfect playlist.
“Gilmore Girls” is Cadence’s favorite show. She loves it because of how the seasons change and how cozy it is. Her favorite movie is “The Notebook” because she thinks the love story is breathtaking. Blue is Cadence’s favorite color because “it can be so deep and subtle but so pretty to the eyes,” and green grapes are her favorite thing to eat.
As a self-reflection, if she were a character Cadence would be Eeyore because he is surrounded by a great group of friends and he tries to be the best version of himself even when he’s not feeling well. If she were an animal, she would be a dog. Fun fact: Cadence has SEVEN dogs!
The most critical moment in her life was getting rushed to the emergency room at 13-years-old. She is definitely a deeper thinker than most. She says, “I think all the battles I’ve been through make me, me, because it allowed me to become the strong and independent person that I believe I am today.” She is so mature for her age in so many aspects.
If she could go on vacation anywhere in the world, she would choose to go to Hawaii because of the tropical climate or to explore historical museums. If Cadence could spend the day with any celebrity, she would choose Spencer Barbosa because of what a great role model and how sweet she is. On the weekends she is either with her mom or dad, and she usually relaxes or spends time with loved ones. Something most people don’t know about this sweet girl is that Cadence loves to smile at strangers
Her biggest pet peeve is when she cares so deeply for someone and they show the opposite in return. Her favorite quote is “if you went back and fixed all of the mistakes you ever made, you would erase yourself.”
This wise eighth-grader’s piece of advice is, “You never know when your story will end, so love the people who care, and exceed in the things that make you happy, You Only Live Once!”
I am so lucky to have watched this amazing girl grow up from afar, and I am so proud of the person she is.
