The Corry community has come together, with a group of students shaving their heads to show support for Tyler Sherman and his fight with cancer.
Tyler got called out of class, and he was very shocked. In Mr. Krasa’s words, it was the “first time I’ve seen that kid speechless.”
Cancer has been been a big problem in our school over this last year, but there have been some positive things to come out of this that show how our Corry community is strong. One of the positive things that has come from cancer is the community coming together to show their love and their appreciation for people struggling with sickness.
Landon Nickerson was the first to have the idea to support his friend in this way, so he and Lamech Albers decided to do it. There was originally only three people, but then it got to sixteen people that day. Then, in the course of a few days, it shot up to 30 people who shaved their hair off to show support for this cause.
Tyler said, “You guys didn’t have to do this,” to which Landon replied “Yeah we did, we’re in this together.”
When we interviewed some of the people who participated, Peyton Ostrander said his reason was to show that we care for him.
Ian Shotts said, “Hair is replaceable, but friendship isn’t.”
