This list is my opinion of the top ten most dominant athletes in the sport that they play. I didn’t include any basketball or soccer/football athletes because I don’t think there are any that are clearly better than everyone else.
10. Tiger Woods (Golf)
While Tiger is the most popular and influential golfer of all time, statistically he isn’t that far ahead of his competitors and actually isn’t number 1 in most categories.
9. Tom Brady (American Football)
Brady has the most gold medals out of every NFL player ever, he has competed in 10 Superbowl’s and has won 7 of them.
8. Lewis Hamilton (F1)
Hamilton has 105 wins, 14 more than second place, Throughout his career he scored 4862 points, 1764 more than second place.
7. Jon Jones (MMA)
With a record of 28 wins and 1 loss, Jon is one of the best fighters of all time, but is only number 7 because there are people who could arguably be just as good if not better.
6. Usain Bolt (Sprinting)
Bolt has won 8 Olympic gold medals and 11 world championship metals. While some of his records have been taken, there are still some he has held for well over a decade.
5. Tony Hawk (Skateboarding)
Tony is the most influential and popular skateboarder ever. Even though he hasn’t competed in the Olympics he has a lot of world records and was the first to do many tricks,
4. Wayne Gretzky (Hockey)
Gretzky holds 8 of the top 10 most points scored in a single season, he has over 800 more points and over 1,200 more assists than second place.
3. Katie Ledecky (Swimming)
While Katie is tied with Emma Mckeon for the most medals for female swimming, she has 9 gold medals while Emma has 6. She also has theĀ record for the 1500m freestyle, she beat second place in that match by over 20 seconds.
2. Joey Chestnut (Competitive Eating)
Joey has only lost 1 of the 16 contests he has competed in, he lost to Matt Stonie who ate 2 more hot dogs than him.
1. Michael Phelps (Swimming)
Phelps is easily the best with a total of 28 medals, 23 of which are gold, which is over double the amount that number 2 has.
