The Life Skills students have started baking and delivering warm pretzels to staff members on Fridays.

The teachers of the Life Skill Program (Mrs. Wojciehowski, Mrs. Nosel, Mrs. Carney, and Ms. Bova) wanted to start making pretzels on Fridays because it provides more opportunities for the kids to go out into the world and to show what they can do. It also helps the students learn to talk to people and use their manners. Also, with them selling coffee and pretzels, the program earns money to take the students out into the world and be able to do more things with them. Some activities that are taking them to the movies, the YMCA, Walmart, and they take them out to lunch. This helps the students learn many things for their adulthood.

The Life Skills program is a class that teaches students life skills such as manners, how to order things, and how to talk to people in general. They also teach them how to make coffee and bake pretzels. They like to do this because it lets them earn money so that they are able to do things out in the community.

Each week, they will send out an email so that teachers can order coffee, and they will offer pretzels on Fridays. It’s a good way for the students to get to know the teachers and the teachers to get to know them. The teachers, if they want, fill out the form and then the next day the students will look at the orders and they have to make the coffee then they go out and deliver it.

For pretzels they look at the orders make the pretzels, salt them, put them in bags and they get a side of cheese ready if the teachers want it. So for the pretzels they learn cooking skills and since the teachers pay them for the coffee and pretzels the kids get to collect and count the money.

The teachers of the Life Skills Program supervise the students who make the coffee and the pretzels. It helps the kids learn to be able to do things, but also feel safe while doing it. The students absolutely love doing it and have so much fun cooking and delivering things to the teachers.
