On December 29, 2024, the world lost former president Jimmy Carter. He died peacefully at his home in Plains, Georgia, surrounded by his family. His presidency was from January 20, 1977, to January 20, 1981. He was the 39th president of the United States, and was in the democratic party. He earned the title of being the longest living president, making him the first former president to reach the age of 100.
His funeral was held at the Washington National Cathedral. Every living president attended former President Carter’s funeral. No matter what political side everyone was on, whether it was Democrat or Republican, everyone put that aside to mourn the loss of President Carter.
President Biden gave a speech at president Carter’s funeral. Biden said that Carter “taught me the strength of character.” He also stated, “Character, I believe, is destiny. Destiny in our lives and, quite frankly, destiny in the life of our nation.” This was the last thing Biden was going to do before the Inauguration for the new presidency.
