As we’re in this cold, winter weather, it’s easy to think about the warm sun and summer vacation. I personally love a beach vacation, but there are many other great options. Here are the top 10 vacation spots.
10. Tennessee- At number 10 is Tennessee. I went here with my family last year, and the views are great. There is so much to do and so much to see. However, I found myself getting strong headaches every day because we were up in the mountains and the pressure in the atmosphere is different. I’m also more of a beach girl, which is why this is so low.
9. Pocono Mountains – I stayed at Kalahari Resort in the Pocono Mountains and it was a fun experience. However, the area wasn’t as nice as we expected. A friend I have also went to the Poconos but stayed in a different area, and she said she had great views and got to see a lot of wildlife, so I guess it depends where you stay.
8. Great Wolf Lodge, Sandusky Ohio – I went with my dance team for a competition and a lot of the dancers, including myself, stayed in the Great Wolf Lodge resort. This has a water park, arcade and a restaurant inside. The reason it’s so low is because I felt it was aimed more towards younger kids.
7. Splash Lagoon – This is a great option for a quick getaway, since we have one right in Erie. I’ve stayed here a handful of times and the experience is always great. It’s at #7 because it’s so close to home and there are definitely better vacation options.
6. Waldameer – If you’re looking for a one-day type of vacation, then Waldameer is the place to go. It has a water park, rides, games and tons of concession stands. This is a great choice for something fast, easy, and super fun.
5. North Carolina – I have been here many many times, as my grandma lives here. We always stay in her house and are able to walk to the beach from there. Though she’s close to the beach, it’s farther away from everything else that North Carolina has to offer.
4. South Carolina – I went here once with my family and it was so fun. We stayed in a condo that included a pool, which was great. We were able to drive around and explore the community and we did so many fun things.
3. Disney World, Orlando – I took a trip to Orlando with my family and stayed in a resort that had a pool and many things to offer. We went to Disney one day and had a great time. It was very hot outside, but I think Disney is something everyone should experience at least once in their life.
2. Sea World, Orlando – On the same Orlando trip we spent a day in Sea World. We had the best experience here. All of the rides are so fun, and the animal shows are super cool. A big plus is they have air conditioned aquariums all around the park that you can walk through in case you want to take a break from the hot sun.
1. Fort Lauderdale, Florida – When I went here with my family we stayed in a nice resort that included many pools and so many other things to do. I have so many great memories from this trip and will always love Florida because of it. We took a day to go on a board walk and there was so much to see and do. And of course we swam in the ocean a ton, which is one of my favorite things to do.
