The 2024 season for the Chicago Bears is all but over with only three games left, and no chance to make the playoffs. With all of the hype around the season, all it took was a couple bad coaches to burn the hype to the ground.
One thing that came with this season was the firing of Bears Head Coach Matt Eberflus, and now Kevin Warren and Ryan Poles will be looking for a new head coach to take Caleb Williams and this young Bears roster to the top, so here are my top 10 head coaching candidates for the Chicago bears.
10. Thomas Brown, Chicago Bears interim head coach- He completely revived the offense this year and was great at interim offensive coordinator, but he has struggled badly at head coach, and personally I have seen enough to not hire him.
9. Brian Flores, Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator- He has already been a head coach once and did okay, but he is a weaker candidate compared to others on this list.
8. Kliff Kingsbury, Washington Commanders offensive coordinator- He was the Cardinals head coach for a while and did well for most of it. There is no doubt he hasn’t transformed the Commanders offense, but they have come back down to Earth in the later half of the season, which tends to happen with his offenses. I would not be mad at this hire.
7. Aaron Glenn, Detroit Lions defensive coordinator- The Lions defense has been banged up for a lot of the year, but when healthy they were amazing. Glenn has every player going 100% every down and he would bring a different level of aura that this bears young team needs.
6. Liam Coen, Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator- It is obvious that Coen has had a lasting affect on Baker Mayfield’s career, as he transformed his career into a top 10 quarterback in the league. He could be a great mentor for Caleb Williams.
5. Marcus Freeman, Notre Dame head coach- Notre Dame has played amazing all season and Marcus Freeman may be looking to move into a greater job. Hiring Marcus Freeman would be great for the whole team.
4. Kyle Shanahan, San Francisco 49ers head coach- Shanahan is the most proven coach on this list, but getting him would come at a cost because most likely they would need to give up draft picks to get him. I would love this hire, but at what cost would it take to get him.
3. Mike Vrabel, former Tennessee Titans head coach, Cleveland Browns consultant- When Vrabel was on the Titans his teams were almost guaranteed to make the playoffs they just never had any playoff success. Vrabel’s defenses are always amazing and he has experience and would be great for the team.
2. Joe Brady, Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator- He has been with Josh Allen and Caleb Williams plays a very similar style of play to Allen. Brady could be a mentor and get this offense on track just like he did with the Bills.
1. Ben Johnson, Detroit Lions offensive coordinator- If you watch a Lions game, specifically offense, everything looks so easy. Johnson is my number 1 candidate because he has the best offense in the league, and has changed Jared Goff’s career. He would be perfect for Caleb Williams and the whole Bears offense.
