The Golden State Warriors have long been under the leadership of Stephen Curry, whose shooting ability, scoring, and clutch performances have elevated the franchise to an elite level. However, this year it has become increasingly apparent that the Warriors need a second star beside Curry to sustain their championship hopes, especially as the team navigates the challenges of a competitive Western Conference.

So to truly contend for championships moving forward, the Warriors need a second star, someone who can carry the load on both ends of the floor when Curry isn’t able to do it all. This second star would take pressure off Curry, especially in high-stress situations like playoff games, where defenses are locked in on Curry. This would also allow the Warriors to be more versatile and dynamic, opening up more opportunities for the rest of the team.

Some big names that have popped for the warriors are Lebron James and Jimmy Butler, who would both be great fits for the Warriors and definitely improve the team. As Butler is great on the defensive end and can put good numbers on offense too, and Lebron, although he is aging, is still a very dominant player that could help out the team a lot.

A name the Warriors already were rumored to try and get is Cam Johnson, but the Nets wanted more than they were willing to give up. Some names that have popped up for the Warriors to trade are Johnathan Kuminga, who is currently on a one year deal and looking for a contract extension; Andrew Wiggins to match salary in a trade; and Moses Moody who is also a young piece. 

However, the lack of a second star player remains the biggest hurdle for the Warriors in their quest for future titles. Without that second star, the team risks becoming too reliant on Curry alone and him just wasting the rest of his career in Golden State and not winning enough. So if the Warriors want to have a chance at winning more championships, I think they really need to look into trading for another star that can help Curry out.
