Corry Area High School has recently made headlines by forming its first-ever girls’ varsity wrestling team. This groundbreaking move was met with excitements and anticipation throughout the school and community. Girls could always join the boys wrestling team, but they wanted something they could do on their own. This is a big step for the young women in high school.

Recently they competed in their first tournament, and placed 2nd out of 17 teams. Did I mention that this is their first tournament? The 2024-2025 girls wrestling team consist of 12 amazing talented girls. It is pretty impressive for these girls to go out there and give it their all on the mat. It’s probably not as easy as you think. They take the time to practice their skills and make sure they are 100%, when they go out on that mat.

People should go and support these girls at one of the few home meets they have. After all this is the girls first season, and who wouldn’t want to see them go out on the mat and give it their all. People should pack the stands to come and support our first ever Corry Area Girls Varsity Wrestling Team.
