On Monday, Corry’s National Honor Society students and Ms. Dow traveled down to the primary school to visit the children for Christmas. This day was especially important because we get to meet kids and talk about what they are most excited for and what they would also like to have for Christmas under the tree.
This day started around lunch. We headed to the plaza and we had the option of either Taco Bell or the famous McDonald’s. After everyone is done eating we went to the school. We got to greet the teachers and we each are assigned to share time with a younger one. When sitting down with these kids we get to ask them questions about what they like, their hobbies, if they have any siblings, pets, or just overall what they enjoy about school or at home or what they like doing for Christmas.
Since this is all about Christmas we told the little ones that we are Santa’s elves on a secret mission for Santa. This reporter really enjoyed seeing their faces light up at this information. NHS members appreciated getting to know them and growing a bond with them in a short amount of time.
After asking all the questions we wrapped our day by saying our goodbyes and getting a group photo with everyone. Heading back to the school, the members got all of their materials and with the information they received from the little ones they will write back to them as Santa so they will receive this letter at home and read it with their parents.
This day was so joyful, like a dash of Christmas magic in a small child’s life.
