As you may have seen, the polarizing wide receiver Antonio Brown, who has been celebrated for his talents and criticized for his antics, is back at it again. He previously was a longtime Pittsburgh Steeler and participated in multiple pro bowls there. He went on to play a season with the New England Patriots and two seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he would win his only championship.
He never officially retired but didn’t play another season after he ran off the field shirtless giving a peace sign to the crowd in the middle of a game against the Jets during the 2021 season. He was still productive during his last seasons and being 36 would still most likely be able to contribute in the NFL.
On Thursday, November 21 he said on X “Offer still out there to come back and play for the Steelers for free to finish the season — AB (@AB84).”
Although it is not known how serious he was about this offer, the Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin completely wrote it off. When asked by a reporter “Antonio Brown tweeted out that he wants to return to the [Pittsburgh] Steelers and he’d play for free, any thoughts on that?” he immediately walked out of the press conference, cutting it short. So, nothing will probably come of Antonio Brown’s offer but it did cause a stir in the online nonetheless.
