I have always gone to the little diner on the corner at 4:00 a.m. for breakfast ever since I was young. So every morning I get up, brush my teeth and hair, get dressed and start my walk. I arrived just as the clock struck 4. Olivia let me in like always. She is the owner of the diner. Olivia led me to my table and told her I would like my usual; bacon, eggs, with a side of potatoes. I was sitting there for quite a while. When just then everything went quiet then dark.

Now this was very unusual for this to happen. Luckily, I had a box of matches right next to me. I lit one and lit the candle at one of the tables. I started to yell, “ Is everybody okay?” I got no response, and I started to worry. I went into the kitchen where I knew I wasn’t allowed to be back there, but I felt like something bad was about to happen. I walked through the kitchen doors and first made it to the ovens and stoves. It looked like everyone left in a hurry, but the power had only been out for 5 minutes at this point. The food was half cooked sitting there. Since no one was there I went to the assembly area and there it was all prepared my food, but it never came to me. The kitchen was very small so I checked it all over and no one was there. I was lost and confused as if I was in some movie and people were getting ready to jump out and scare me. I went back to my table and by my surprise three men in black suits were right in front of me. They started to ask me what I was doing and told them I come here every day at 4. To my surprise they weren’t surprised by this. They started to explain that the whole town lost power. That gave me some relief, but I still wondered what happened to Olivia and the other workers. I asked them if they had any idea on where they went, but looked at me as if I were crazy. I told them to come with me. I led the way with my candle, and showed the way. All of a sudden the lights kicked on.

I turned around as fast as I could and looked at one of the men. I asked what happened, and it turns out the lights got shut off, and everyone was all there, Olivia and the workers, just like no one had left. I tried explaining to them what happened and they all told me that they had been here the whole time just cooking in the dark. I tried explaining to Olivia and the workers that it was impossible because I searched the whole diner and yelled for people and no one was here. I heard chatting in the background from the men.

Next thing I knew, they wanted me to come with them, but I had no idea who these people were. They had me in handcuffs taking me to the psych ward. I tried explaining to them that it was true and I wasn’t crazy, but it was too late they didn’t believe me and the men in the black suits took me away.
