This day starts earlier in the morning than previous years, you have to get to the school at 7:45 to be ready to leave for Mercyhurst. Before it used to be at Penn-West Edinboro since I was a freshman and I am glad to have a change of scenery but I also kind of miss going to Edinboro because it was like a routine and normal for me. I find it weird that I am already a senior in this program, “where does the time go?” is what I say all the time.
For the bus ride over it was kind of nerve racking but also really good because I got to see my friends from Erie that I haven’t seen in a long time. We started the day with signing in and having a presenter talk about admissions which was really interesting. I was able to get some of my questions answered about nursing so I was really satisfied with the speaker. I also got to meet the new staff and teachers which was super nice.
We got our new schedules and it was a pretty easy day. We did our classes starting with a tutorial to get homework done. The classes last about forty minutes each and it is the same ones you would have at school so if you needed help on a certain part you could get that help you needed. When it was time for lunch we got to eat in the Grotto and the food was really good and yummy since there was such a variety. I think that everyone there was very helpful and it was definitely not boring. Overall, I think people should definitely sign up for an upward bound. You get paid to go on those Saturdays and it is a great chance for you to explore college life so you don’t have to be as nervous when you are a first year student. To end this story of mine, everyone should be open to new things and try them out.
