Back in 2013, three of the best supercars ever brought into production came together to make the Supercar Trinity, consisting of the Ferrari LaFerrari, the Porsche 918 Spyder, and the McLaren P1. But in recent times Ferrari, Porsche and McLaren have given us recent information on their new supercars consisting of the Ferrari F80, unveiled at Maranello on October 17 2024; the Porsche Mission X, which was unveiled at the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen on June 8, 2023; and the McLaren W1, which was revealed globally on October 6, 2024. After sufficient time, the new Supercar Trinity is finally coming.
The Ferrari LaFerrari was one of Ferrari’s most elegant and powerful cars with only 499 ever made, consisting of a V12 combustion engine that produces around 800 horsepower and a 120 kilowatt electric motor giving the LaFerrari a total of around 960 horsepower. Their latest unveiling of their Ferrari F80 is to be considered their next masterpiece for a starting price of $3.1 million, with a V6 engine that alone can make around 900 horsepower, which would make it one of the most powerful V6 engines to be made. And it consists of an electric front axle and motor, which gives them around 300 more horsepower, giving the car a total of around 1200 horsepower, which is insane for any car. Its body is also incredibly designed with strong, lightweight materials such as aluminum, carbon fiber, and titanium. A supercar that, once produced, will be ready to dominate the track.
The Porsche 918 Spyder with 999 being made in total, is a beautifully built car with a V8 engine that pushes around 600 horsepower and two electric motors for the front and rear, which makes around 280 horsepower, which would give it around 880 horsepower. The 918 also has an astonishing cockpit that is comfortable for the driver with many features and still track ready. And earlier this year Porsche revealed their next supercar success, Mission X, which is said to make it the fastest track car and estimated to go for around $3.45 million. So far, the only information that is official is that it will have an electric powertrain and is expected to have incredible downforce and power to weight ratios. Even though not too much is provided about the Mission X, I believe Porsche will not disappoint at all since they never miss a beat when it comes to their track performance.
And the McLaren P1, with only 375 being made, is a beautiful yet elegant car with a powerful twin-turbocharged V8 engine that produces around a stunning 800 horsepower. The electric motor makes around 176 horsepower giving the car around a total of 903 horsepower. The P1 also has a wing that adjusts to reduce drag or create drag when needed to slow down fast. And now McLaren has unveiled the successor of the P1, the W1 with a starting price of $2.6 million, which has a twin-turbo V8 engine which makes around 910 horsepower and an electric motor that makes around 340 horsepower, giving this beast around 1230 horsepower, making it the fastest road-legal car. And not many take that achievement lightly as the battle for the fastest road legal car has been going on for years between manufacturers such as Bugatti, Koenigsegg, Czinger and others too. And the W1 has a unique wing design that is able to adjust to give it more aerodynamic movement and the wing extends more outward than the usual powered wings.
These cars are planned on being officially manufactured some time in 2025. And although the originals have placed their unforgettable mark in car history and changed the car community, now that we are approaching the near future, it is time to embrace it with modern power and elegance to the car community and make a new mark in history.
