After the first 7 weeks in the NFL, it is clear that the Cleveland Browns need some major improvements if they even want to be considered for winning the Super Bowl. Week after week, they have constantly fallen short and have yet to be satisfied with their game-by-game results. In this story, we will go over why we think the Cleveland Browns should try and start to lose games on purpose.
After the 1-6 start, Browns fans thought the season couldn’t get any worse. But then disaster struck: their quarterback Deshaun Watson fell to a season ending injury. Not only is Watson out for the season and probably more, but the Browns also owe him a ton of money over the next few seasons, including 92 million in the 2025 and 2026. This wouldn’t be a problem if he was good, but Watson has been one of the worst quarterbacks in the league statistically.
The Browns have also already traded star receiver Amari Cooper for a third round pick, which makes their offense even worse and makes it seem even more like they are tanking. So at this point it’d be good for them to just try and tank for a good pick in the next draft and either get a good quarterback or wide receiver and try to acquire more young talent. Some notable players they could draft: Cam Ward, Jalen Milroe, Shedeur Sanders, Quin Ewers, Carson Beck, Travis Hunter, Tetiroa McMillian, and Emeka Egbuka
Some possible ways the Browns could tank is to trade away their best players like Myles Garrett, Denzel Ward, Jerry Jeudy, and others. Another solution to tanking could be to start their worst players in an attempt to lose more games. This would ensure that they lose more games to potentially move up in the 2025 NFL draft. If they somehow happen to acquire a top talent in this draft, get more young talent and acquire the right players for the team, they could potentially develop in a couple years into becoming a top team again.
