The importance of regular exercise

Imagine living your whole life eating junk and never doing anything to take care of your body, like going for runs, lifting weights, etc., just letting your body decrease your life expectancy. Well, this is actually a big problem in the United States called the obesity pandemic. Exercise is essential to everyone’s daily life. Even just going on a little run has big benefits to a person’s health, like better sleep, strengthening muscles, and weight management.

I understand that some people may not have easy access to exercise or have a condition or injury that may cause them to not be able to exercise, but people who do need to take action. The downsides of not exercising include many things like heart diseases, type 2 diabetes, dementia, cancers, and much more according to MedlinePlus.

People may notice themselves losing muscle strength and endurance, not being able to run a long distance, and not being able to pick up things that should be quite easy to lift. I’m not forcing anyone to exercise. That is, of course, everyone’s individual choice, but it provides many benefits to keeping your body healthy.

Although I believe that everyone should regularly exercise, there are also some little-known downsides to working out. Four disadvantages to working out are pain, like after having a nice workout session your muscles are sore, which sometimes hurt. Exercise-related injuries, which is like when you are benching a little too much and you pop a peck out of place, which you need a six-month rehab period to heal. Heart problems like when you’re exercising vigorously can lead to fibrosis (scarring of the heart tissue). Exercise bulimia, which is a new type of eating disorder, causes a person to exercise compulsively to compensate for binging or just eating and to attempt to control body shape and weight, according to Networx.

I believe that regular exercise is important and needed only if you don’t have any records of previous health problems that may affect you now.
